"I finally visited Paloma Coffee & Bakery in Brooklyn and tried two pastries — the matcha danish and the fig danish — and both were standouts in completely different ways. The matcha danish had bold matcha flavor with beautiful layers and a slightly bitter finish that kept it from being overly sweet. It felt refined, almost like a Japanese dessert in the form of a viennoiserie. The fig danish, on the other hand, was more vibrant and fruity — soft, jammy figs with a caramelized edge and buttery, flaky dough underneath. Together, they showed how Paloma balances both experimental flavors and classic techniques."

"A girl walks into a bakery…and has the best experience. Usually when I ask the person behind the counter if something is good, they’re give a response that lets me know they want me to order and go away. Not here! Customer service from the sweet person in the abstract button down shirt was great. I ordered the new hazelnut danish and asked about the pistachio pain suisse. They gave me their opinions on both and sold me on the pistachio in only a few descriptive words. They brightened my day. I love trying new bakeries so it’s a bonus when I can go back due to great customer service AND pastries. I wasn’t a fan of the hot chocolate - it was lacking in depth of flavor."
